History
Maxon Furniture Inc. started as a small company in the summer of 1982 when the founders conceived a way to produce a low cost office panel partition. Within two months, Company representatives went to Chicago for the 1982 NOPA (National Office Products Association) show to display the new company products. At that point the company had no sales, no customers, no representatives and only a small warehouse to produce the panels. The Company's panels attracted a lot of attention from NOPA visitors. Soon after, the orders began to roll in and the Company began to grow with more and more customers.
The Company revolutionized the value oriented freestanding panel industry by adding a greater variety of heights and widths, fabric and frame selections, etc. HNI Corporation took notice of these innovations and decided to bring the Company into the HNI family in 1986. It was the perfect match. The Company had a plan to meet market needs, and HNI had the resources to help the Company grow to its full potential.
